The word ทองหล่อ is usually transcribed into English in two different ways: “Thonglor” and “Thong Lo”. The colloquial use in everyday language by us locals and various magazines and publications (CNN Travel included) is “Thonglor”.
The official spelling according to RTGS and ISO 11940-2 (yes there’s an ISO for this too..) is “Thong Lo”. The road signs and the BTS Station a few minutes’ walk away from us is “Thong Lo”.
Either way, we’re very proud of our neighbourhood for what it is today!
